MINNEAPOLIS - St. Olaf and Midland University played a baseball doubleheader at U.S. Bank Stadium on Thursday night. Midland won the opener 1-0.
Game One: Midland 1, St. Olaf 0
Alex Bee's walk-off RBI single in the right-centerfield gap gave Midland a 1-0 win over St. Olaf in the opener.
Bee's heriocs offset another stellar start from the Oles'
Jake Mathison. Mathison took the tough-luck loss after throwing six-plus innings, allowing four hits while striking out three and walking none.
The Oles had five hits to Midland's four, but hit into two double plays.
Game Two: Midland 1, St. Olaf 0
Midland scored in the top of the seventh to pick up the 1-0 victory.
The game-winning run came on a long fly ball out to centerfield. Runners advanced from first and second to second and third and the relay throw to the infield kicked away allowing the run to score.
Travis McDonald had two hits for the Oles in the loss.
St. Olaf used four pitchers:
Kade Cronin,
Jesse Retzlaff,
Sam Pressman and
Will Gustafson. The group scattered four hits and four walks.
