Gusties edge Oles twice

ST. PETER, Minn. - The St. Olaf baseball team came out on the wrong side of each game in a back-and-forth MIAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Game One: Gustavus 6, St. Olaf 5
St. Olaf led 5-0, but the Gusties rallied for four in the bottom of the fifth and completed the come back with a two-run sixth in the game one win.

Dylan Blake and Jake Ossell each went 2-for-4 in the loss for St. Olaf. Jake Mathison worked five innings for the Oles, scattering six hits while striking out four. All four runs he allowed were unearned.

Nolan Lepel hit a three-run homer as a part of a 2-for-3 game for Gustavus. Matt Berkner went 2-for-3 as well.

Game Two: Gustavus 13, St. Olaf 12
Gustavus walked off in the bottom of the ninth on a bases loaded walk to offset a furious Ole rally.

Ryan Iverson's grand slam was the exclamation point in the five-run St. Olaf eighth inning. In all, the Oles scored nine unearned after falling behind 10-3 after three innings. Joe Kieski was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Alex Avero 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs while Ossell and Jake Mathison had two hits as well.

Jake Lundquist and Brett Peterson each went 3-for-5 for the Gusties, who scored in the ninth on a two-out single and three straight walks.
