Softball splits with Hamline

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf softball team defeated Hamline University 2-1 in game one with a Macy Vosbeek walk-off homer in the ninth and fell 7-0 in the second as the Oles split with Hamline University on Saturday afternoon at Mabel Shirley Field. 

Game One: St. Olaf 2, Hamline 1
The Oles and the Pipers were tied 1-1 since the fourth inning when Vosbeek singled to left to drive in Jessica Bentley who got on with a single to left as well. At the bottom of the ninth Vosbeek homered to give St. Olaf (15-9) a 2-1 win. St. Olaf had seven hits to Hamline's six. 

Julie Graf pitched all nine innings and gave up zero earned runs, striking out nine. 

Game 2: Hamline 7, St. Olaf 0
Hamline (11-9) got on base every inning of the game and had ten hits. Fransiscus had two hits in two at bats for the Pipers, one being a two-run homerun. 

Kate Arneson was two for three at the plate and Emily Carr was one for three with a double. Jessica Bentley pitched all seven innings giving up seven earned runs in 28 at bats.

St. Olaf will travel to Saint Mary's University (Minn). tomorrow afternoon for another MIAC doubleheader. First pitch will be at 1 p.m.
