Ole men rally to beat Pipers, 60-57

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Nate Albers hit four straight free throws in the final 22 seconds as a part of his team-best 19 points as St. Olaf defeated Hamline University 60-57 in a MIAC men's basketball game on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center's Bob Gelle Court. 

Albers had 13 in the second half on 4-of-6 shooting as the Oles overcame a 29-28 HU lead at the break. Austin Korba had 11 of his 13 points in the second half as the Oles (10-5, 6-4 MIAC) managed to hold on to the lead late. 

The Pipers had a chance to tie on the final possession of the game with 3.7 seconds left, but Korba stole the in-bounds pass to seal the victory for St. Olaf. Hamline (7-8, 3-7 MIAC) led by as many as 11 in the first half. The Pipers' Isaac Brooks had 23 points to lead all scorers, while Zach Smith had 13 and five assists in the loss. 

St. Olaf had the ball with a four-point lead with 37 seconds left, before the Pipers forced a turnover and closed within two on a Brooks layup. After Albers hit his first two free throws to put the Oles ahead by three, Dylan See-Rocker hit a three-pointer in the corner to cut the lead to one. Albers hit his next two to set up the final play. 

Troy Diggins Jr. added nine points and six rebounds for the Oles. 

Each team made 23 field goals and six free throws -- St. Olaf was 6-of-7 and Hamline 6-of-12. St. Olaf made eight three-pointers (8-for-22), while Hamline was 5-of-15.
