MENOMONIE, Wis. - The St. Olaf men's hockey team rallied from a three-goal first period deficit to tie UW-Stout, and later defeated the host Blue Devils 6-5 in overtime on a
Drew Otto goal to cap a wild finish on Friday night at Fanetti Community Center.
St. Olaf (6-5-0) forced overtime on
Roshen Jaswal's score with one second remaining in regulation with an extra skater. St. Olaf pulled goaltender
Noah Parker with 24 seconds left. Parker, who spelled starter
Eric Hancock midway through the third period with UW-Stout leading 5-3, had five saves to pick up his first career victory.
Mathias Ahman scored three times for UW-Stout (6-7-2), including both third period scores that broke a 3-3 tie.
Down 3-0, the Oles (5-6-0) scored three times a 7-minute, 42-second stretch of the second period to tie the game.
Gordon Wells' goal put the Oles on the board with his score at 4:20.
Carter Lukenda scored at 8:19 on assists from
Joey Sundgren and
Judd Loewenstein to get St. Olaf within one.
Sawyer Jacobson then tied the game on a shorthanded tally at 12:02.
After Ahman scored twice to make it 5-3, the Oles'
Kyle Rimbach narrowed the lead to 5-4 with his score at 11:18.
Otto and
Tobias Gabrielsen assisted on the game-tying goal to send it to overtime.
