ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team fell to No. 18 St. Thomas, 198-100, in a dual meet Saturday afternoon.
Sophia Nevin posted a first-place finish for the Oles in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.82, followed by
Kelly Wichmann in second with a time of 1:11.99. St. Olaf posted a first-place finish by
Helen Jensen in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:15.07. Nevin also won the 200-yard breaststroke with a finals time of 2:33.67. Jensen won the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:45.11, followed by Rizzo in second with a time of 4:51.59.
In the 200-yard medley relay,
Kelly Punyko, Nevin, Jensen and
Marissa Wolff placed second with a finals time of 1:51.29, followed by
Shannon Cucchiaro, Wichmann,
Olivia Prescott and
Solvay Metelmann in fifth with a time of 2:02.05.
Linnea Rizzo (11:03.61) posted a second-place finish for the Oles in the 1000-yard freestyle, followed by
Caitlin Croasdell (11:09.10) in fourth.
Wolff placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.95. Punyko (26.13) posted a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, followed by Metelmann (27.44) in fifth. In the 100-yard freestyle,
Maya Knutson placed second after recording a time of 55.45, followed in fourth by Wolff (56.07).
Punyko (1:01.95) placed third in the 100-yard backstroke, followed by Croasdell (1:05.02) in fifth. In the 200-yard backstroke, Punyko placed fourth with a time of 2:22.25, followed by Cucchiaro (2:26.74) in fifth.
Another third-place finish came from Wolff in the 500-yard freestyle as she tallied a time of 5:21.50, followed in fourth by Croasdell (5:27.47). In the 100-yard butterfly, Jensen (1:02.88) placed third, followed by Knutson (1:04.05) in fourth. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Knutson, Prescott, Nevin and Wichmann placed third with a finals time of 1:46.01.
The Oles are back to action as they host Gustavus Adolphus Saturday, Nov. 10, beginning at 1 p.m.
