DUNDAS, Minn. - The University of Northwestern-St. Paul swept St. Olaf 5-2 and 14-10 in a non-conference softball doubleheader in the season-opening series for each school.
Game One: Northwestern 5, St. Olaf 2
The Eagles' Abbie Nelson tossed a 7-hit complete game and went 2-for-4 with a double as Northwestern took advantage of four St. Olaf errors in a 5-2 victory.Â
Emily Carr homered and walked for the Oles, going 1-for-2, while
Kate Arneson and
Ally Bode were each 2-for-3 in the loss.Â
Kayla Madison and Ellie Ronning had two hits apiece for Northwestern.
Game Two: Northwestern 14, St. Olaf 10
Maggie Casper and
Hannah Matthies had three hits each while Carr was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for St. Olaf, but the Eagles scored nine times in the sixth inning for a 14-10 comeback win.Â
Nine of Northwestern's runs were unearned as St. Olaf, again, committed four errors including three on consecutive plays in the sixth.Â
Kayla Hannasch was 4-for-4, while Madison and Nelson were each 3-for-5 for Northwestern.
