MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point defeated St. Olaf 3-1 in the opener of a non-conference baseball doubleheader at U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday night, and the Pointers led the Oles 9-6 in game two before the game was suspended due to a time limit.
The second game, which was in the bottom of the seventh, will be completed when the teams visit Florida later this month.
Jake Mathison worked the entirety for St. Olaf (2-1), going six innings. He allowed five hits, walked none and struck out four in a losing effort. Mathison was 2-for-3 with two doubles at the plate.
Payton Nelson was 2-for-3 with two runs for the Pointers (1-0), who scored two in the fourth an another in the sixth.
