Baseball: Oles sweep Fighting Tigers 14-1, 13-1 in doubleheader

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The St. Olaf baseball team (6-4) swept a doubleheader against SUNY Cobleskill (0-8) on Friday, outscoring the Fighting Tigers 27-2 and outhitting them 33-8 in the two games.

St. Olaf 14, Cobleskill 1
A six-hit third inning and a seven-hit sixth led to a pair of six-run innings as the Oles won the opening game 14-1.

Jake Mathison (2-1) pitched all seven inning for St. Olaf, allowing a lone run on six hits and a walk while striking out 12. At the plate, Mathison was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Ryan Torbenson led the Oles with three RBI, going 1-for-4 and scoring twice. Bobby Isbell scored thrice, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Matthew Muller's three hits led the team, with Mathison, Isbell, TJ Rogers, Jake Ossell, and Dylan Blake collecting two hits apiece.

St. Olaf closed the doubleheader with a 13-1 win over the Fighting Tigers.

Hanson Devine (3-2) got the win, allowing one run and a pair of hits through seven innings pitched while striking out 11.

Mathison scored twice and drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Oles. Ben Arndt had a three-hit game as well, driving in one and scoring twice.

Dahl was 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, driving in three.

Next up for the Oles is a game against Western New England University on Saturday.
