MINNEAPOLIS - St. Olaf swept Northwestern-St. Paul 14-4 and 4-3 on Monday night in a non-conference, season-opening baseball doubleheader at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Game One: St. Olaf 14, Northwestern 4
Dylan Blake was 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs and four RBIs as St. Olaf posted back-to-back six-run rallies in the fifth and sixth innings on the way to the game one victory.
Ryan Torbenson also homered for the Oles, who had two hits from
TJ Rogers and starting pitcher
Jake Mathison.Â
Mathison worked five innings, allowing an earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out five.
Jesse Retzlaff pitched the final two innings, giving up two earned on three hits.
Carlton Lindow was 2-for-3 for the Eagles.
Game Two: St. Olaf 4, Northwestern 3
The Oles rallied from down 3-0, scoring a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and a go-ahead tally in the seventh.Â
Max Marshall tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the victory in relief for St. Olaf. Marshall scattered five hits, walked none and struck out three.
Luke Dahl homered to to get the Oles on the board in the fifth while
Jake Ossell, Blake and Rogers had two hits each. In the seventh, Ossell opened the inning with a double and later scored on a Dahl sacrifice fly.
