MINNEAPOLIS - St. Olaf split a pair of MIAC softball games with Augsburg University on Thursday night, defeating the Auggies 5-4 in game one before losing, 7-4, in game two.
Game One: St. Olaf 5, Augsburg 4
Hannah Matthies was 3-for-4 with two homers, a double and three RBIs as St. Olaf won the opener behind a complete game from
Julie Graf, who was 3-for-4 at the plate herself.
Graf struck out 12 and pitched around four walks and five hits. After allowing three runs in the sixth, Graf retired the side in order in the seventh for her seventh win of 2018.
Abby Grismer and
Kate Arneson added two hits each for the Oles. Jacquline Nichols was 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI for the Auggies.
Game Two: Augsburg 7, St. Olaf 3
The Auggies (14-10, 6-2 MIAC) struck for four second-inning runs on the way to the 7-3 win.
Alison Curry homered and
Emily Carr was 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the loss for the Oles (11-11, 1-5 MIAC).
Morgan Malley homered and drove in three and Shannon Dale was 2-for-2 with an RBI, run and stolen base for Augsburg.
