MOORHEAD, Minn. - The St. Olaf baseball team (10-8, 0-2 MIAC) fell to Augsburg University (10-8, 2-2 MIAC) by scores of 4-3 and 2-1 in a pair of conference games on Friday.
Augsburg 4, St. Olaf 3
The Oles fell in the 10th inning as the Auggies won the first game 4-3.
Dylan Blake and
Jake Mathison each drove in a run as part of a two-run third inning for St. Olaf.
Bobby Isbell hit a RBI single to left in the sixth to give the Oles a 3-2 lead until the Auggies tied it up on the bottom half of the inning.
The game remained a 3-3 draw until Mike Brookshaw drove in the winning run for Augsburg with a walk-off RBI single in the 10th. Brookshaw finished the game 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored.
TJ Rogers (3-for-5) and
Sam Stuckmayer (3-for-3) led the Oles with three hits apiece.
Mathison pitched eight innings for the Oles, giving up three runs on five hits while striking out seven.
The game was the first for St. Olaf since March 28th.
Augsburg 2, St. Olaf 1
Jake Ossell homered for the Oles, but it was not enough as St. Olaf fell 2-1.
Ossell led off the fourth inning with a solo shot to left field that evened the game up at 1-1.
The Auggies scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on an error.
Jamie Kaye (3-2) earned the win for Augsburg, allowing one earned run on eight hits with no walks while striking out six in a complete game effort.
Hanson Devine (2-1) pitched a complete game for the Oles, allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts.Â
Sam Pressman and Mathison each had a pair of hits for the Oles.
Next up for the Oles is a doubleheader against the University of St. Thomas on Saturday.
