NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf sophomore
Julie Graf eclipsed 500 career strikeouts, but St. Catherine University stopped a 10-game St. Olaf winning streak with Thursday's 10-1 and 5-4 MIAC softball sweep at Mabel Shirley Field.
Graf struck out six in the opener and five in game two.
Game One: St. Kate's 10, St. Olaf 1
SCU rallied for nine runs over its last three at bats on the way to the run-rule victory.
Emily Carr and
Hannah Matthies hit doubles in the fourth inning to account for the Oles' only run. Carr was 2-for-3.Â
Alyssa Wicks was 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and three RBIs for SCU.
Game Two: St. Kate's 5, St. Olaf 4
Macy Vosbeek hit a three-run first inning homer and was 2-for-3, but SCU rallied for a 5-4 win in game two to complete the sweep.
Claire Woebke delivered a three-run, game-tying homerun in the fourth inning for the Wildcats (21-10, 14-2 MIAC). SCU, which trailed 4-1 into the fourth, broke the tie with a run in the sixth.Â
Carr was 1-for-1 and was walked twice.Â
