NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf baseball team dropped each end of an MIAC baseball doubleheader to Bethel University on Sunday afternoon at Mark Almli Field by scores of 7-0 and 13-4.
Game One: Bethel 7, St. Olaf 0
The Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after a Austin Ledin double and Bo Lovdahl single. Bethel added three more in the second inning en route to a 7-0 shutout victory. Earning the shutout was Royal pitcher Sam Riola.
The Oles were held to just three hits, all singles by
Jake Mathison, Sam Daleo, and
Sam Stuckmayer.
Hanson Devine pitched two innings, giving up five runs and seven hits.
Game 2: Bethel 13, St. Olaf 4
St. Olaf rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Royals prevailed 13-4.
Bethel totaled 15 hits while St. Olaf gathered seven. Pitcher David Cushin for the Royals went 6/13 innings, allowing no runs. The Oles rallied to score four due to walks and fielding errors by Bethel after Cushin left the game.
Jesse Retzlaff went 3.1 innings in the loss, allowing four runs on four hits.
The Oles will play again at home against Gustavus on Tuesday at Mark Almli Field at 2:30 p.m.
