NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Saint Mary's University Swept St. Olaf 11-8 and 10-4 on Sunday at Mark Almli Field in the Oles' season finale.
Game One: Saint Mary's 11, St. Olaf 8 (8 inn.)
St. Olaf raced to leads of 7-2 and 8-5, but SMU scored six unanswered over the final three innings on the way to the eight-inning victory.
The SMU victory offset a 4-for-4 game from the Oles'
Matthew Muller and two-hit efforts from
Sam Pressman, Dylan Blacke and
Jake Ossell. St. Olaf struck for six runs in the third inning in the loss.
The setback marked the ninth St. Olaf loss in conference play that was by a run or in extra innings.
Game Two: Saint Mary's 10, St. Olaf 4
The Cardinals scored four times in the first inning and held off a mid-game Ole rally to complete the sweep.
SMU led 7-1 before St. Olaf plated three runs in the fifth inning to get within striking distance. The Cards, however, answered with three in the top of the sixth.
Pressman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Oles, and
Ben Arndt 2-for-2 off the bench with a run.
