Saturday's football game at Carleton to start at 11 a.m.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Due to unseasonably hot and humid weather conditions in the forecast, the St. Olaf College football team's game against cross-town rival Carleton College on Saturday, Sept. 15 will start at 11 a.m. instead of 1 p.m. as originally scheduled.

This past spring, the MIAC adopted new heat, cold and lightning policies for contests in order to maximize the health, safety, and sport performance of all participating student-athletes. Under the new heat policy, precautions will be made when the wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) reaches 76.2. The policy also requires the immediate halting of contests when WBGT reaches 86.1. WBGT is the measurement of ambient temperature, humidity, radiation and wind speed, enabling athletic trainers to calculate the relative risk of heat illness based on environmental conditions.

Fans unable to make it to Carleton's Laird Stadium on Saturday can tune into the live video and live stats provided by Carleton's Knights Online, or listen to the St. Olaf radio broadcast on KDHL AM 920 or online at kdhlradio.com.
