Pellicci makes 36 saves for women's hockey in loss to Augsburg

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Sophomore goaltender Kaitlyn Pellicci recorded 36 saves for the St. Olaf College women's hockey team in a 5-0 loss to Augsburg University on Saturday night at St. Olaf Ice Arena.

Bridget Wagner had a hand in each of the first three goals for Augsburg (10-6-3, 7-3-2 MIAC), tallying two goals and an assist for the visitors. Pellicci's 36 saves marked her third-straight appearance with at least 30 saves for St. Olaf (0-17-2, 0-10-2 MIAC).

Wagner opened the scoring at 7:04 of the first period, beating Pellicci on the glove side with a wrist shot off after collecting a pass from Valerie Whichello. Just over five minutes later, Wagner and Ellie Tabaka set up Molnar on the back door on the power play at 12:05 to give Augsburg a two-goal lead after one.

The Auggies stretched their lead to 3-0 at 7:44 of the second on Wagner's second of the night. Mikayla Jones and McKenna Ellena scored 40 seconds apart inside the final five minutes of the third to close out the scoring.

Pellicci stopped 36 shots in the first 55:43 of the game before first year Ivy Shonka made four saves late on in her first collegiate appearance. McKenna Manalli logged a 17-save shutout in net for Augsburg.

St. Olaf hosts No. 2/3 St. Thomas on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at St. Olaf Ice Arena.
