ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Olaf College volleyball team bounced back from dropping the first set to post a four-set win (21-25, 25-9, 25-16, 25-10) on the road against Macalester College on Saturday afternoon at Leonard Center.
After hitting just .154 in the first set, St. Olaf (23-4, 6-3 MIAC) hit at a .450 clip while committing only four errors over the final three sets to post its ninth win in its last 10 matches. The four-set win was the 15th in the last 18 meetings with Macalester (4-19, 0-9 MIAC) for the Oles, who were the top-ranked team in the Central Region in the NCAA Regional Rankings released earlier this week.

Lauren Rewers rose a spot on St. Olaf's all-time kills list, as her 12 kills on the afternoon moved her past Shannah Olson '03 for sixth in program history with 1,387 kills in her career.

Lexi Wall assisted on 47 of St. Olaf's 53 kills, as the Oles hit .353 as a team, compared to .024 for the Scots.

Selena Rodriguez had a career-high 14 to go with six aces. First year
Nicole Banitt was in on a team-high five blocks and contributed seven kills.
St. Olaf outhit Macalester by a .154 to .086 margin in the opening set, but five service errors and three aces by the Scots helped the hosts grab the set, 25-21. The Oles held a 13-10 lead before the Scots rattled off six points in a row to take a three-point lead of their own. Macalester put together a pair of 3-0 runs late in the set to take a 23-19 lead and held on from there.
The Oles took control of the second set early on with a 6-0 run that gave St. Olaf a 9-2 lead, as Rewers had two kills and a block in the run. Later in the set, Rodriguez had a pair of aces in a run of 10-straight points on her serve that put the Oles ahead 24-8. St. Olaf hit .556 in the second set with 15 kills and no errors on 27 swings.
In the third, St. Olaf stretched a one-point lead to six, 15-9, with a 6-1 run that ended with consecutive aces by Rodriguez. The Oles led by at least six the rest of the set and hit at a .407 clip in the set.
St. Olaf won the first five points of the fourth set and never looked back. The Oles pushed their lead to 14, 19-5, on Rodriguez's sixth ace of the afternoon and led by as many as 16 at 22-6 before the Scots won four-straight points. Banitt ended the brief Macalester run with back-to-back kills to bring up match point and an attack error sealed the win.
Next up for St. Olaf is a trip to Hamline on Wednesday, Oct. 30 for a 7 p.m. match in St. Paul.
