Lauren Rewers was selected as a Third Team All-American and junior
Lexi Wall picked up Honorable Mention All-American honors as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 39th annual AVCA All-America teams on Monday morning.
Rewers earned Third Team All-America status after being on the honorable mention list last season, making her St. Olaf's first All-American since Kim Smisek (Second Team) and Kelly Prunty (Third Team) in 2010, while Wall was among the top Division III volleyball players in the country for the first time. Rewers is the 10th student-athlete in program history to be named to one of the three AVCA All-American teams.
In her senior season, Rewers also collected her third-straight All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) honor and her second consecutive AVCA All-Central Region honor after tallying career-high totals in kills (439), kills per set (3.60), service aces (48), service aces per set (0.39), digs (302), digs per set (2.48), points (521.5) and points per set (4.27). The senior recorded double-digit kills in 27 of St. Olaf's 32 matches and posted 15 kill-dig double-doubles this season.
She concluded her career fourth in program history in kills (1,479) and points per set (4.06), fifth in kills per set (3.42), attack attempts (3,719), block assists (245) and points (1,752.5), and ninth in total blocks (266).
Wall, who earned her third-straight All-MIAC honor and joined Rewers on the AVCA All-Central Region Team. also put together the best statistical season of her career this fall, setting career highs in assists (1,436), assists per set (11.67), digs (346), digs per set (2.81), kills (54), kills per set (0.44) and attack percentage (.226) from her spot at setter. Her 1,436 assists and 11.67 assists per set currently lead all of NCAA Division III and rank ninth and fifth, respectively, in program history for a single season.
In her junior season, Wall tallied at least 40 assists in 25 of St. Olaf's 31 matches and recorded 20 assist-dig double-doubles. Through three seasons, she already ranks sixth all-time at St. Olaf in career assists (3,792) and owns the highest assists-per-set mark in program history at 11.49.
Rewers and Wall helped the Oles finish the 2019 season with a 26-6 overall record, which was the program's highest win total since 2010. St. Olaf advanced to the championship match of the MIAC Playoffs and appeared in the NCAA Tournament, both for the first time since 2010, and earned its first national ranking since early 2011 during the season.
