BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Four members of the St. Olaf College volleyball team were named to the 2019 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Conference Team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Senior outside hitter
Lauren Rewers and junior setter
Lexi Wall both collected their third-straight All-MIAC honor, while senior libero
Emily Jarnigan and sophomore middle blocker
Katelyn Lannom gathered their first. Rewers and Wall are the 10th and 11th three-time All-MIAC selections in program history for St. Olaf, whose four all-conference selections were the second-most in the MIAC (St. Thomas, 5). Senior
Abigail Wiedel was St. Olaf's representative on the MIAC Volleyball Sportsmanship Team.
Rewers ranks in the MIAC's top five in six categories this season, ranking second in kills (375) and points (435.5), fourth in aces (45), and fifth in kills per set (3.41), aces per set (0.41) and points per set (4.1). She has recorded double-digit kills in 24 of St. Olaf's 29 matches, including the last 12, and has 12 kill-dig double-doubles to her credit, as she contributes a career-high 2.39 digs per set.
In her junior season, Wall leads all of NCAA Division III in assists per set (11.56) and is second in total assists (1,283), with her 1,283 assists leaving her 40 shy of cracking St. Olaf's single-season top-10 list. The junior has recorded at least 34 assists in every match this season, while handing out at least 40 on 21 occasions and topping 50 eight times. She was named the Sports Imports/AVCA NCAA Division III Player of the Week on Oct. 15 and has twice been named the MIAC Setter/Libero of the Week.
As a sophomore, Lannom ranks in the top 10 in the MIAC in eight categories, ranking second in aces (50), third in attack percentage (.366), fourth in aces per set (0.45), fifth in points (415), seventh in kills (319) and points per set (3.8), ninth in total blocks (84), and 10th in kills per set (2.90). The two-time MIAC Hitter of the Week's .366 attack percentage currently ranks 31st in the country and is on pace to be a top-three mark in program history.
Jarnigan has stepped into the libero role this season and leads the MIAC in digs (605) and digs per set (5.45) this season. The senior has been in double figures in digs in all 29 matches this season, while recording 17 matches with at least 20 and three with at least 30. Her 605 digs rank 20th in the country this season and are the sixth-highest single-season mark in program history.
The quartet has helped the Oles to their highest win total since 2010 with a 25-4 mark entering the MIAC Playoffs. Second-seeded St. Olaf will host third-seeded Saint Benedict on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in the tournament's semifinals.
