ST. PETER, Minn. –
Caitlin Croasdell won both the 500-yard freestyle and 1,000-yard freestyle events as the St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team dropped a dual meet to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foe Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday.
Croasdell took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:04.42 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:27.37.
Annika Cleven (1:02.20) added a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, while
Helen Jensen was first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.41), as well as the 200-yard IM (2:16.00)
Maya Knutson won the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:58.03 and collected a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.39), while
Maria Newton (59.90) was first in the 100-yard butterfly.
Along with the first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, Cleven was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.50) and the 200-yard IM (2:17.45)
Marissa Wolff was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:07.59) and in the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.37).
Brydie Stewart placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.41, while Newton was second in the 100-yard freestyle (54.39).
A relay of Cleven,
Sophia Nevin, Newton and Knutson took second in the 200-yard medley relay, recording a time of 1:52.43. Nevin (2:32.30) added another second-place finish on the day in the 200-yard breaststroke. Stewart was third in the 100-yard butterfly and Allie Mayfield (1:04.01) was fourth.
Newton, Wolff, Knutson and Jensen competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay and took second with a time of 3:40.88, and almost nine seconds faster than the third-place relay.
In three-meter diving,
Lauren Kroschel recorded a score of 197.20 and took third, while
Anna White was fifth (166.60). White was fourth in the one-meter diving (185.05), and Kroschel followed in fifth (167.80).
In third of the 200-yard freestyle was
Kelly Wichmann with a time of 2:04.68 and Nevin was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.30).
Allison Purdum, Wichmann, Stewart and
Solvay Metelmann took fifth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.25.
St. Olaf hosts its alumni meet on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. before returning to competitive action at the St. Cloud Invite on Dec. 6-8.
