Box Score 2 AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The St. Olaf College baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Union College (N.Y.), falling 11-8 in the first game and picking up a 4-3 victory in the second contest on Monday afternoon.
After St. Olaf (8-3) evened the score at 8-8 in the top of the sixth inning, Union (16-9) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and held three Ole runners on base in the top of the seventh to secure the victory in the first game. In the second game the Dutchmen had two errors while St. Olaf had none, and the Oles held off the Dutchmen in the seventh inning to get the split on the day after
TJ Rogers made a game-saving catch to end the game.

Despite St. Olaf evening the score at 8-8 in the top of the sixth inning, Union scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and held the Oles scoreless in the seventh to secure the victory.
Sam Pressman led St. Olaf with two hits, two RBI and a run, and Ryan Torbensen collected two RBI on one hit in the game.
TJ Rogers added a hit and three runs, along with a hit and two runs from
Tommy McDonald.
Hunter Barber pitched the first four innings of the game and had five strikeouts.
The Oles took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning after
Matthew Muller,
Luke Dahl and
Jake Ossell were walked in. In the bottom of the first the Dutchmen scored on an RBI triple to cut the lead to 3-1 at the end of the inning.
After Union climbed within one of St. Olaf in the second inning, Union evened the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the third with an RBI double from Colin Kelly.
The Oles regained the lead in the top of the fourth as McDonald RBI singled to send Rogers home and Pressman singled to extend the lead to 5-3.
Union had five-runs off three hits in the fifth inning and took an 8-5 lead over St. Olaf. Elias Kuhns homered and tallied two RBI that extended Union's lead to three.
St. Olaf answered in the top of the sixth as the Oles rallied after two outs to even the score at 8-8. After Rogers was walked, Pressman RBI singled to bring St. Olaf within two. A Torbenson triple accounted for two RBI and evened the score .
In the bottom of the sixth, Union had four hits, including a single, followed by a triple that put Union on top at 10-8. After his triple, Kelly scored on a single that accounted for the final run of the contest.
The Oles got three runners on base in the top of the seventh, including a single from Ossell, but were unable to convert.

Rogers made a game saving catch in the seventh inning to hold off Union as St. Olaf went on to win by a run.
Muller led the Oles with two hits and two runs, while Pressman had two hits and an RBI and Ossell added two hits.
Sam Westermeyer picked up his second win of the season from the mound as he pitched six innings and had eight strikeouts, while only allowing one Union run.
Elliot Syverson pitched in the final inning and recorded his third save of the season.
In the second inning Torbensen and Muller hit back-to-back singles to started the inning and an RBI double from Dahl put the Oles on the board at 1-0.
After leaving two Dutchmen players on base in the top of the third inning, St. Olaf doubled its lead with an RBI double from Pressman that sent Rogers in for the run.
In the top of the fourth inning Union singled twice and scored on the second single in the inning to cut the Oles' lead to one at 2-1. St. Olaf answered in the bottom of the fourth as Muller came home on the throw to score when Ossell stole second to extend the lead to 3-1.
Both teams were held scoreless in the fifth inning and two Dutchmen were left on base in the top of the six as St. Olaf held a two-run lead. The Oles extended the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly from
Andrew Nomoto that sent Muller home to account for the final St. Olaf run of the game.
In the top of the seventh inning, Union scored on a single to cut the lead to 4-2. A sacrifice fly to center field picked up an RBI for the Dutchmen and cut the lead to just one run, but Rogers snagged a catch at center field to hold off Union and secure the victory for St. Olaf.
Despite eight hits by Union and just seven from St. Olaf, the Dutchman had two errors in the game, while the Oles none.
St. Olaf is back to action on Tuesday, Mar. 26 for a non-conference game in Auburndale, Fla. against Williams, beginning at 9:30 a.m. central time.
