ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Olaf College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday afternoon at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus in the second match of the team's trip to Orlando.
St. Olaf (3-4) followed up a doubles sweep by not dropping a set in singles to complete the 9-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh (5-7).
Sabrina Barboza,
Greta Prokosch,
Ellie Bergstrand,
Emily Otteson,
Kellis Brandt and
Teresa Fawcett each recorded victories in both singles and doubles for the Oles.
The pairs of Barboza/Prokosch and Bergstrand/Otteson both improved to 4-3 on the season with their victories, while Brandt/Fawcett moved to 3-3. Barboza/Prokosch did not lose a game at No. 1 doubles, while Bergstrand/Otteson and Brandt/Fawcett posted identical 8-5 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
In singles, no Ole lost more than seven games in any of the six straight-set victories. Bergstrand and Prokosch surrendered just one game apiece in their victories at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Prokosch's 6-0, 6-1 win at the fifth spot was her third-straight singles triumph.
Barboza returned to her spot at No. 1 singles and rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Otteson dropped just three games at No. 4 singles. After winning a close first set at No. 6 singles, Fawcett raced through the second, taking her match 6-4, 6-0. Brandt was victorious by a 6-3, 6-4 margin at No. 2 singles.
St. Olaf completes its three-match trip to Orlando with a matchup against Whitworth University on Wednesday, Mar. 27 at 10:30 a.m. CDT.
