ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Olaf College women's tennis team won a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles and came out on top in three super tiebreakers in singles to outlast Whitworth University, 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus.

Teresa Fawcett won a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles to give St. Olaf (4-4) a 2-1 edge over Whitworth (7-4) heading into singles play. Sophomore

Greta Prokosch all pulled out their singles matches in super tiebreakers to help the Oles secure the victory.
Bergstrand and
Emily Otteson gave the Oles the first point with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, but the Pirates came back with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles to tie it up. Brandt and Fawcett won their tiebreaker, 7-5, at No. 3 doubles, their third win in a row, to lift St. Olaf to a 2-1 lead.
Otteson rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory, her third-straight win, at No. 4 singles, but Whitworth recorded victories at No. 2 and No. 6 singles to tie the match at 3-3. St. Olaf, however, won the last three matches on court in super tiebreakers to emerge victorious.
Bergstrand and Barboza claimed their super tiebreakers by identical 10-4 scores at No. 3 and No. 1 singles, with Barboza's 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 10-4 win atop the lineup providing the clinching fifth point after Bergstrand's 6-3, 5-7, 10-4 triumph at third singles.
Prokosch tallied her fourth consecutive win at No. 5 singles by rebounding from dropping a second-set tiebreaker to win the super tiebreaker and record a 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 10-5 victory at No. 5 singles.
St. Olaf returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play on Friday, Apr. 5 against St. Catherine University at 4 p.m. The match is scheduled to be the Oles' first contest at their home outdoor Carlson Courts this season.
