NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's tennis team topped St. Catherine University, 6-3, in its home opener in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play on Friday afternoon at Carlson Courts.

St. Olaf (5-4, 2-3 MIAC) started the match by winning two of the three doubles matches and came out on top in three super tiebreakers in singles to edge St. Catherine (6-5, 2-4 MIAC). The victory was the third-straight for the Oles.

In doubles, St. Olaf picked up wins at the top-two spots before the Wildcats salvaged a point by winning at No. 3 doubles. The pairs of Sabrina Barboza/Greta Prokosch and Emily Otteson/Ellie Bergstrand posted victories for the Oles, with Barboza/Prokosch winning 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and Otteson/Bergstrand cruising to an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles for their third victory in a row.

The Wildcats won two of the first three singles matches to tie it up at 3-3 before the Oles won the final three matches to finish to earn the victory. Barboza rallied from a set down to record her third-straight victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Bri Dorr, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.

With the score locked at 3-3, Prokosch put St. Olaf on top by recovering from dropping the first set to claim a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 win over Leah Obert at No. 5 singles before Kellis Brandt provided the clinching fifth point at No. 2 singles. Prokosch has won five-straight singles matches to run her record to 7-2 this season.

After Brandt won the first set, 6-1, Alisha Wiedmeier edged Brandt, 7-5, in a second-set tiebreaker to send the match to a super tiebreaker, which Brandt claimed by a 10-5 margin. Otteson completed the 6-3 win by downing Maddy Knoll in two tight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), to post her fourth win in a row.
