LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's tennis team edged closer to securing a berth in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs by sweeping past Concordia College (Minn.), 9-0, on Thursday evening at Lakeville Life Time Fitness.
With the win over Concordia (3-16, 0-9 MIAC), St. Olaf (7-5, 4-4 MIAC) strengthened its hold on the sixth and final spot in next month's MIAC Playoffs, as the Oles are two matches ahead of Saint Benedict (9-5, 2-5 MIAC) in the win column. The Bennies have three MIAC matches remaining, while the Oles have two and hold the tiebreaker by virtue of their head-to-head win last week.
St. Olaf dropped no more than three games in any of the three doubles matches.

Greta Prokosch posted their fifth win in their last seven matches with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while the pairs of

Emily Otteson and
Kellis Brandt/
Teresa Fawcett were victorious by matching 8-3 scores at the other two spots.
Atop the singles lineup, Barboza logged her fifth victory in the last six matches by downing Jenna Forknell, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. The Oles lost no more than four games in any of the other five singles matches.
Brandt did not lose a game in her No. 2 singles match against Ivy Mattson, Prokosch dropped just one game in the first set of her No. 5 singles match with Lexi Johnson and Fawcett surrendered just two games in the first set against Abby Westrum at No. 6 singles.
Bergstrand recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles against Lisa Neumann, while
Emily Otteson won her No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-2, against Brianna Bell.
Otteson has won six of her last seven singles matches and is 8-4 overall this season, while Prokosch has won seven-of-nine and is a team-best 9-3 overall. Both are now 5-3 in the MIAC.
St. Olaf looks to secure a postseason spot when it travels to Macalester College on Tuesday, Apr. 23 for a 5 p.m. match against the Scots.
