AUSTIN, Texas – Rising senior
Tyler Radtke and recent graduate
Rose Doda of the St. Olaf College Nordic skiing teams were each named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division III At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced on Wednesday.
In the at-large category, Radtke was named to the First Team and Doda earned a spot on the Third Team, as both picked up the first Academic All-America honors of their careers. They are the ninth and 10th student-athletes from St. Olaf to receive Academic All-America honors and the first since Vanessa Kleckner of the women's golf team was a Third Team selection in 2012.
An economics major with a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA, Radtke became St. Olaf's fourth-ever First Team Academic All-America honoree and its first since Megan Daymont in 2003 (women's track/cross country). Through three seasons, Radtke is a 12-time United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) All-American. This winter, he won national titles in the 15k classic and classic sprint at the 2019 USCSA National Championships, where he finished fifth in the individual combined standings to help the Oles finish third as a team.
An economics and philosophy double major with a 3.91 cumulative GPA, Doda finished her career as a seven-time USCSA All-American and earned four of the seven honors this season. At the 2019 USCSA National Championships, she placed in the top five of all four races to finish third in the combined standings, as St. Olaf won national titles in the freestyle sprint and 15k freestyle mass start. Doda helped the Oles finish in the top two in all four races on their way to a second-place team finish.
The duo were two of four Google Cloud Academic All-America honorees from the sport of skiing this season. The at-large category includes the sports of women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's crew/rowing, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo and men's wrestling.
The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 and be a starter or contributor to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades.
