Lexi Wall of the St. Olaf College volleyball team swept the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) weekly awards on Monday, as Lannom was named the conference's Hitter of the Week and Wall was tabbed the league's Setter/Libero of the Week.
Lannom and Wall were each named to the Bethel Invitational All-Tournament Team after helping lead St. Olaf to three wins over the weekend. The Oles won all four of their matches last week to run their winning streak to eight matches and enter MIAC play this week with an 11-1 overall record.
Both Lannom and Wall earned the first MIAC weekly awards of their respective careers. Lannom is St. Olaf's first MIAC Volleyball Hitter of the Week honoree since
Megan Grimes '19 on Sept. 17, 2018, while Wall is the program's first Setter/Libero of the Week since Kersten Bork '16 on Sept. 24, 2012. The Oles had not swept the MIAC weekly volleyball awards since Kim Smisek '11 (Hitter) and Kelly Prunty '11 (Setter/Libero) did so on Oct. 18, 2010.
In four matches last week, Lannom averaged 3.24 kills per set and hit .402, while posting double-digit kills in all four matches for St. Olaf. She matched her career high with 19 kills and had a career-high six aces in a four-set win against St. Norbert on Saturday before adding 13 kills in a five-set win against American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 vote-getter UW-Stevens Point later in the day. Lannom also recorded 11 aces and nine blocks during the week.
Wall totaled 185 assists and 42 digs during St. Olaf's 4-0 week, closing out the weekend with 52 assists and 10 digs in each of the wins over St. Norbert and UW-Stevens Point on Saturday. Wall posted 47 assists and nine digs in a five-set triumph over previously-undefeated UW-Stout the day before and currently ranks third in the nation in assists per set (11.58) this season. Wall also contributed eight kills, six aces and six blocks over the four matches.
St. Olaf begins MIAC play by hosting nationally-ranked St. Thomas on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at Skoglund Center.
