Reichhoff's OT winner gives women's soccer win over Scots

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Junior Annie Reichhoff scored in overtime to lift the St. Olaf College women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Macalester in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) contest Saturday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.

In the 94th minute Reichoff got past a Macalester (0-6-0, 0-2-0 MIAC) defender on the right side of the box and sent the ball to the left corner to end the game and give St. Olaf (5-1-1, 2-0-0 MIAC) its third-straight win.

Macalester's Alice Bieda scored in the fifth minute after a long ball from goal keeper Kayla Togneri to put the Scots on the board at 1-0.

The Oles evened the score in the 25th minute as sophomore Grace Maxwell scored her second goal of the season with a shot just outside the top of the box shortly after a St. Olaf corner kick.

Sophomore Anna Newby found first year Tessa Anderson through the defense on the right side of the field, and Anderson found the left corner to give the Oles a 2-1 lead heading into the half.

St. Olaf had 12 shots while allowing just two by Macalester in the second half, but the Scots were able to score in the 82nd minute and force overtime.

Less than four minutes into overtime Reichhoff got the ball in the box on the right side and passed a Macalester defender to open herself up for the game-winning goal.

The Oles had 21 shots in the game, including 10 on goal, while holding the Scots to six shots in the game.

St. Olaf is back to action on Wednesday, September 25 for a non-conference contest against UW-Eau Claire at Rolf Mellby Field at 4 p.m.
