NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Visiting UW-Eau Claire halted the St. Olaf College women's soccer team's five-game unbeaten streak by defeating the Oles, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.

UW-Eau Claire (6-3-0) scored in the first five minutes of both halves and got two goals from Courtney Slowinski less than three minutes apart in the second half. St. Olaf (5-2-1) held advantages in shots (28-14) and shots on goal (13-7) in the game.

Anna Larson opened the scoring in the fifth minute by firing a shot into the top-left corner from 25 yards out after collecting a pass from Anna Kautzman. The Oles nearly got the goal right back when senior Katie Brumley found space at the top of the box and shot the ball just over the cross bar onto the roof of the net.

Just 10 minutes in, sophomore Hayley Hoffmann played senior Mackenzie Schoustra in behind the defense, but her shot was saved by a rushing Anna Sveiven. Junior Brynne Davis made back-to-back saves in the 25th minute to keep the Blugolds from doubling their lead.

St. Olaf won a corner in the closing seconds of the half and, with 15 seconds to go, senior Claire Bash drew a save from Sveiven with a left-footed shot on the turn in the box.

Less than two minutes into the second half, UW-Eau Claire earned a penalty kick and Emily Sullivan converted from the spot to make it 2-0. Slowinski added goals in the 66th minute and 69th minute to cap the scoring for the Blugolds.

Sveiven made 12 saves in the win for UW-Eau Claire, while Davis had three stops for St. Olaf. The Oles also held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks in the game.

St. Olaf visits the No. 12-ranked University of St. Thomas on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
