ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior
Farid Sani scored his second goal of the season, but the St. Olaf College men's soccer team fell to the University of St. Thomas, 6-1, in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at South Field.
St. Thomas (3-3-3, 2-1-0 MIAC) scored three times in each half and held St. Olaf (5-4-0, 1-2-0 MIAC) to five shots in the game to secure the victory. Five different Tommies scored on the afternoon.
Jake Amey opened the scoring for St. Thomas in the fifth minute before Jacob Makela doubled the hosts' lead 20 minutes in. Sean Kurtenbach gave the Tommies a 3-0 lead at the break with a 31st-minute goal.
After St. Thomas scored twice in the first half of the second half, Sani got St. Olaf on the board in the 72nd minute with his second tally of the season. Sophomore
Lucas Gaulmin earned his team-leading fourth assist of the season on Sani's goal.
Junior
Hamza Osman made six saves in the loss for St. Olaf. Troy Louwagie made one save for St. Olaf in the opening 68:55 to earn the win.
St. Olaf returns home for a MIAC content against Saint Mary's on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m.
