Maya Knutson and first year
Maria Newton each won three individual events and were part of a winning relay, as the St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team was defeated, 156-143, by Carleton College in a Senior Day dual at Thorpe Pool on Saturday.
Knutson and Newton were part of seven of St. Olaf's 10 event victories on the day, winning three events each and swimming on the first-place 200-yard medley relay. The Oles won all five individual freestyle events in the meet.
Knutson accounted for three of the freestyle event victories, winning the 100-yard freestyle (54.25), 200-yard freestyle (1:57.42) and 500-yard freestyle (5:21.86). Newton added a win in the 50-yard freestyle (25.26) to first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.38) and 100-yard butterfly (59.68).

Allison Purdum and junior
Sophia Nevin to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:52.70.
First year
Annika Cleven also won a pair of events, claiming the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.92) and 200-yard individual medley (2:16.52), while senior
Helen Jensen was first to touch in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:17.28).
St. Olaf competes at the Minnesota Challenge on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1 at the University of Minnesota.
