NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Visiting Gustavus Adolphus College had four scorers in double figures and made 12 three-pointers to defeat the St. Olaf College women's basketball team, 82-45, on Saturday afternoon at Skoglund Center.
Gustavus (16-5, 12-4 MIAC) made four three-pointers in the opening quarter and five more in the third in a game where six Gusties made at least one shot from behind the arc. Ava Gonsorowski led the visitors with 17 points and six assists, while first year
Rachel Kelly had 17 points in the loss for St. Olaf (8-13, 5-11 MIAC).
In addition to Gonsorowski's 17-point performance, Caitlin Rorman had 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field, Anna Sanders hit three three-pointers off the bench to score 11 points and Marisa Gustafson added 10 points for Gustavus. The Gusties were 12-for-28 (42.9 percent) from three-point range in the win.
Kelly's 17-point afternoon followed up a career-high-tying 21-point effort against Saint Benedict on Wednesday, as the first year shot 8-for-15 from the floor in the game. First year

Gustavus held St. Olaf to two points in the opening 5:20 of the game on its way to a 15-2 lead. After trailing 20-6 seven minutes into the game, back-to-back buckets by Olmen started a 9-0 run that brought the Oles within five before the Gusties hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds to lead 23-15 after one quarter.
Kelly scored all seven of St. Olaf's points in the second quarter as Gustavus opened up a 37-22 halftime lead by outscoring the Oles, 14-7, despite shooting a game-low 32.3 percent (6-for-17) in the quarter.
The Gusties heated up to 52.9 percent (9-for-17) in the third quarter and were 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) from behind the arc in a 27-point quarter that ballooned their lead to 64-35. Gustavus led by as many as 39 in the final quarter on its way to securing a spot in the MIAC Playoffs.
St. Olaf plays its next three games on the road, starting with a trip to Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the second game of a doubleheader. The women's game will follow the men's game at roughly 7:15 p.m.
