NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's hockey team saw its four-game winning streak to start the season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to the College of St. Scholastica on Friday evening at St. Olaf Ice Arena.
In its first conference game as a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), St. Scholastica (3-1-0, 1-0-0 MIAC) scored twice in the opening eight minutes on its way to its third-straight victory. St. Olaf (4-1-0, 0-1-0 MIAC) had opened the season with back-to-back sweeps for its longest winning streak since the 2012-13 season.
Taylor Thompson got the scoring started just 2:21 into the game for the Saints, outskating the Oles' defense on the right before firing the puck into the top-left corner of the net in the early stages. St. Scholastica doubled its lead to 2-0 before the period was up when Lauryn Hull set up Abby Pohlkamp for a blast from near the left dot.
Kayla Kasel scored once in each of the final two periods for the visitors, scoring on the power play at 16:04 of the second period and adding an empty-netter at 17:46 of the third period. After taking just one penalty in the last three games, St. Olaf committed five penalties on the night and went 0-for-2 on its power-play opportunities.
The Oles' best chance of the game came when senior

St. Scholastica outshot St. Olaf by a 29-13 margin in the game and got a 13-save shutout from Ashlea Arvidson in the win. Senior
