BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior goalkeeper
Kristian Noll of the St. Olaf College men's soccer team was honored as the recipient of the 2021-22 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Elite 22 Award for men's soccer on Wednesday.
A Norwegian and political science double-major with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average, Noll became the eighth St. Olaf student-athlete to earn the MIAC Elite 22 Award since the honor began in the 2013-14 academic year. He is the first Ole to be recognized with the accolade in men's soccer.
The MIAC Elite 22 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The MIAC Elite 22 Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average who participated at the finals site for team sports and who earned all-conference honors for individual sports.
To be honored, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing, and in at least his or her second year of competition at his or her current institution. They must also be an active member on the roster and a member of the designated squad size for the championship site.
After being a defender during the 2018-19 season as a first year, Noll moved to goalkeeper for his final three seasons on the team. He has been named to the Dean's List in all seven of his completed semesters and was a 2020-21 Academic All-MIAC honoree.
