NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's basketball team had five scorers in double figures on its way to an 86-67 victory over visiting Macalester College on Tuesday evening at Skoglund Center.
Senior
K'Lynn Lewis scored a game-high 22 points and added five assists, four rebounds, and two blocks for St. Olaf (2-2, 1-2 MIAC), which picked up its first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victory of the season. The win was the Oles' sixth in the last eight meetings with Macalester (2-3, 1-2 MIAC).
St. Olaf shot a season-best 51.5 percent (34-for-66) from the field in the win and went 9-for-15 (60.0 percent) from behind the arc. The Oles also enjoyed a 21-4 advantage in bench scoring and held a 42-26 edge in points in the paint.

Sophie Olmen had a season-high 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting and added six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Junior
Rachel Kelly added 11 points and five rebounds, while junior
Cassie Fix had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. First year
Paige Yagodinski was the fifth Ole in double figures with 10 points off the bench, while first year Sophia Korrmann had seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Macalester hit four-straight shots to get out to a 14-8 lead midway through the first quarter and took its largest lead of the game at 21-14 with 1:41 to go in the quarter. Trailing by seven, St. Olaf went on an 8-0 run that included back-to-back three-pointers by Yagodinski and Lewis to take the lead, but the Scots used a last-second shot by Emma LaFrenz to take a 23-22 lead into the second.
The Oles outscored the Scots by a 27-14 margin in the second quarter to go into the halftime break up 49-37. St. Olaf led by just two with 4:47 remaining in the quarter before hitting six of its final nine field goals of the quarter to close the frame on a 14-4 run. Lewis and Olmen had 10 points apiece in the first half as the Oles shot 20-for-35 (57.1 percent) from the floor.
Macalester trimmed St. Olaf's lead to six, 58-52, with 2:21 to go in the third quarter, but the Oles responded with a 9-0 run to quickly push it back to 15 in the final seconds. Lewis had five points during the spurt and the Oles held the Scots to four made field goals in the quarter to go into the fourth up 67-53.
In the fourth, Katherine Nordquist scored the first six points of the quarter for Macalester to cut St. Olaf's lead to single digits with 8:29 remaining, but the Oles answered with a 7-0 run to push their lead back to 15 and led by double figures the rest of the way. After the Scots shot 9-for-18 from the field in the opening quarter, the Oles limited the visitors to 30.4 percent (14-for-46) shooting the rest of the game.
Nordquist paced the Scots with 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds, while Celine Sabbagh and Solana Cushing had 12 points apiece. Emma LaFrenz was also in double figures with 11 points and nine rebounds for Macalester, which did not make a three-pointer over the final three quarters and was just 3-for-16 (18.8 percent) from behind the arc in the game.
St. Olaf hits the road to face Hamline on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m.
