Emily Otteson recorded a win at No. 4 singles and paired with classmate
Greta Prokosch for a victory at No. 2 doubles for the St. Olaf College women's tennis team in a 7-2 road loss to Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday morning at Swanson Tennis Center.
After Otteson and Prokosch earned an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles for St. Olaf (2-2, 2-2 MIAC), Otteson rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles to give the Oles' two points against Gustavus (11-0, 3-0 MIAC) for the first time since a 7-2 loss in St. Peter on April 20, 2013.
St. Olaf was playing its second match in as many days after dropping a 5-4 nail-biter to St. Kate's at home on Friday afternoon.
Otteson and Prokosch's doubles win moved them to 4-0 as a tandem this season, while Otteson improved to 3-1 in singles play to match Prokosch for the best mark on the team.
The Gusties claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles as well as five straight-set singles victories. Senior
Sabrina Barboza pushed All-American Ginger Valentine into a second-set tiebreaker before falling by a 6-2, 7-6 margin.
St. Olaf takes on Bethel on Monday, April 19 at Bloomington Life Time Fitness at 3:30 p.m.
