LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's tennis team led 2-1 after doubles before Macalester College rallied in singles to claim a 6-3 victory on Tuesday evening at Lakeville Life Time Fitness.
St. Olaf (3-5, 3-5 MIAC) got wins from the pairs of
Sabrina Barboza/
Allie Prokosch and
Greta Prokosch/
Emily Otteson at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles. Macalester (6-1, 6-1 MIAC) went on to win five of the six singles matches to pick up the victory in a matchup of teams that had both already clinched spots in the upcoming Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs.
Barboza and
Allie Prokosch picked up their third-straight victory at No. 1 doubles with an 8-5 win, while Otteson and
Greta Prokosch moved to a team-best 6-2 this season with an 8-6 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, St. Olaf's lone victory came from
Greta Prokosch, as she claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot. Prokosch also leads St. Olaf in singles victories this season with a 6-2 mark.
With the loss, the Oles are locked into the No. 6 seed in the MIAC Playoffs, which begin on Wednesday, May 5. St. Olaf hosts Concordia-Moorhead in their final regular-season match on Saturday, May 1 at 1:30 p.m.
