ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Olaf College volleyball team suffered its fifth loss to a top-15 opponent this season when the No. 15-ranked University of Northwestern swept the Oles by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 on Wednesday evening at Ericksen Center.
Abby Glanzer had 14 kills and hit .367 to lead the way for Northwestern (13-2), which ran its winning streak to five by hitting .386 in the win. Senior

Madison Gully had six kills apiece in the loss for St. Olaf (5-9).
Glanzer had kills on the first two points of the match to help the Eagles race to a 5-0 lead in the first set. The hosts led by at least three the rest of the way and hit .619 with 13 kills and no errors on 21 attempts in the set. Glanzer had six kills on seven swings in the set.
St. Olaf hung with Northwestern at the start of the second set before the Eagles broke a 10-10 tie with a 9-0 run that proved to be decisive. The hosts cooled off a little from the first set but still hit .345 with just two errors in the set.
In the third, Northwestern won three-straight points to take an 8-5 lead and pushed its lead to 20-10 with a 6-1 run later in the set. St. Olaf cut the deficit to seven at 24-17 before Glanzer sealed the win with her 14th kill of the match.

Waverly Thao added 11 for the Oles, who hit .116 on the night. Junior

The Eagles enjoyed a 6-1 advantage in aces and had 10 blocks compared to three for the Oles.
After playing 14-straight matches away from home to start the season, St. Olaf hosts Macalester on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at Skoglund Center.
