RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The regionally-ranked St. Olaf College volleyball team was swept by UW-River Falls by scores of 25-18, 25-20, 26-24 in its final non-conference match of the regular season on Wednesday evening at Don Page Arena.
UW-River Falls (21-11) hit .241 in the match and held St. Olaf (13-12) to a .163 clip to pick up the sweep. The Oles were ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Division III regional rankings released on Wednesday afternoon.

Catherine Moore – the reigning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week – led St. Olaf with 11 kills and hit .364 in the loss. Fifth-year senior
Katelyn Lannom added eight kills while hitting .389, while first year
Paige Christophersen had 18 assists, 10 digs, and five aces. Senior
Selena Rodriguez recorded a match-high 18 digs to go with six assists.
The Oles held a 13-12 lead midway through the opening set but won only five points the rest of the way. The Falcons won six-straight points to open up a 22-15 cushion and limited St. Olaf to a .105 attack percentage in the set.
In the second, the Oles used a 9-0 run on Christophersen's serve to turn a 15-9 deficit into an 18-15 lead, but the Falcons responded with a 6-0 run of their own to take the lead back for good.
Christophersen delivered back-to-back aces late in the third set to help St. Olaf take a 22-18 lead, but UW-River Falls won five of the next six points to force a 23-23 tie. The Oles broke the tie and earned a set point on Moore's seventh kill of the set, only for the Falcons to win the next three points to close out the sweep.
St. Olaf returns to MIAC play by hosting Saint Mary's University on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. on Senior Night at Skoglund Center. With two matches remaining, the Oles are currently tied with Bethel University for third place in the conference standings but will be the No. 2 seed in the MIAC Playoffs if they win their final two matches.
