Hendler becomes first Ole named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior forward Nathan Hendler of the St. Olaf College men's basketball team became the program's first D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection in program history on Tuesday.

A day after being named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time, Hendler was honored as one of the five men's selections to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. Now in its 25th season, the Team of the Week is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll and recognizes the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Hendler averaged 23.0 points per game while shooting 80 percent from the field and 77 percent from three-point range in two games for the Oles last week. The senior was 8-for-11 from the field, 5-for-7 from behind the arc, and 4-for-5 at the free-throw line to score a career-high 25 points in a 96-90 overtime loss at Gustavus, before going 8-for-9 from the field and 5-for-6 from long range in an 85-50 win at Hamline.

The former Holy Family Catholic standout has scored in double figures in seven of the last eight games he has played in, averaging 15.0 points per game on 56.3 percent (45-for-80) shooting from the field and 51.4 percent (19-for-37) shooting from behind the arc. For the season, Hendler ranks tied for second in the MIAC in three-point field goal percentage (47.4), fifth in field goal percentage (54.2), and 18th in scoring (11.9).

Hendler is the fourth Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) student-athlete named to the D3hoops.com Men's Team of the Week this season, joining Joe Palmer of Augsburg (Jan. 18) and Raheem Anthony of Saint Mary's (Dec. 7, Jan. 3). The 1,439 all-time selections to the D3hoops.com Men's Team of the Week include 1,034 players from 347 schools.

St. Olaf hosts Concordia-Moorhead in the second half of a basketball doubleheader on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
