BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior outfielder
Tarah DeCroock of the St. Olaf College softball team was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Softball Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday afternoon.
DeCroock hit .524 (11-for-21) and had at least one hit in all six of St. Olaf's games during a 6-0 week that locked up a spot in the playoffs for the Oles. The senior had multiple hits in four of the six games, scoring six runs and driving in seven more during the week. DeCroock started the week by going 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBI in a sweep of Hamline before going 5-for-7 with three runs and one RBI two days later against Macalester. She finished the week by adding three hits and two RBI in Sunday's road sweep of Gustavus.
Monday's announcement made DeCroock St. Olaf's first MIAC Softball Player of the Week this season. She joins sophomore pitcher
Jaelyn Orth in receiving a weekly honor from the conference after Orth was recognized as the MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week on April 11.
DeCroock has been one of the top hitters in the conference in MAIC contests this season, ranking second in doubles (8) and sixth in both runs scored (19) and runs batted in (18). She also ranks in the top 20 in batting average (.388), stolen bases (5), on-base percentage (.434) and slugging percentage (.507) in conference games.
St. Olaf earned the No. 2 seed and a bye into the semifinal of the MIAC Playoffs, which begin later this week. The Oles will take on a yet-to-be-determined opponent in the semifinals on Saturday, May 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel.
