WAVERLY, Iowa – The St. Olaf College volleyball team hit over .300 in both matches to sweep Wartburg College and Buena Vista University at the Wartburg Quad on Friday night at Levick Arena.
St. Olaf (13-7) hit .336 on its way to sweeping Wartburg (9-13) by scores of 25-12, 25-16, 25-19 to start the evening and followed that up by connecting at a .301 clip while sweeping Buena Vista (6-14) by a 25-14, 25-18, 25-12 margin. The back-to-back sweeps extended the Oles' winning streak to four matches, as St. Olaf has won 12 of its last 14 sets over that span.
As a team, St. Olaf hit .317 in the two victories, as junior
Maycie Rogers and
Catherine Moore both tallied at least 20 kills on the night. Rogers registered 24 kills and hit .340, while Moore had 23 kills with a .391 attack percentage against the two American Rivers Conference opponents.
The Oles have one more non-conference match before returning to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play, as the team heads to the nationally-ranked University of Northwestern on Wednesday, Oct. 18 for a 7 p.m. start.

St. Olaf posted its second-highest attack percentage of the season by hitting .336 while also holding Wartburg to a .092 clip to start the night with a sweep. The Oles hit a combined .458 over the first two sets before cooling off in the third but were still able to close out the match in three. The sweep was just the fourth for St. Olaf in 23 meeting in the series held under the best-of-five format going back to 1996.
Rogers recorded her first collegiate double-double with 14 kills – one shy of her season high – and 10 digs while hitting .346 in the match. Moore hit .318 and had 10 kills, while senior
Erica Collin added nine kills on 15 errorless swings to hit .600.

Paige Christophersen made it five-straight double-doubles with a 22-assist, 11-dig effort, while first year
Skylar Fildew tallied 15 assists and eight digs. Sophomore
Morgan Ryan led the St. Olaf defense with a then-season-high 18 digs to go with five assists and an ace. First year
Maren Miller picked up two solo blocks to account for two of the Oles' six blocks.
St. Olaf led all the way in the opening set, winning the first three points as part of a 9-3 start to get out to an early advantage. The Oles led by as many as 14 at 22-8 after a 9-1 run on the serves of Ryan and Miller in a set that saw St. Olaf hit .370. On the other side, the Knights hit -.032 with eight errors and seven kills in the opener.
After putting just 12 points on the board in the first set, Wartburg held an 11-10 advantage near the midway point of the second before St. Olaf won nine of the next 10 points to take control at 19-12. Miller had a pair of kills and a solo block in the decisive stretch of the set, as the Oles pulled away for a 25-16 set win after posting a .531 attack percentage with 18 kills and just one error.
The third set featured 11 ties and six lead changes before St. Olaf again ran away with the set late on. With the Oles trailing 16-15, Rogers, Collin, and senior
Anysia Caille combined for seven kills in an 8-0 run that gave St. Olaf a 23-16 advantage two points from the finish line. Wartburg proceeded to win three of the next four points before committing an attack error on St. Olaf's third match point.

After hitting just .184 in the opening set, St. Olaf hit .378 over the final two sets to ease past Buena Vista in the first meeting between the two programs since 2016. The win also snapped the Beavers' four-match winning streak in the series.
Moore reached double figures in kills for the 12th time in 13 games with 13 while hitting .458 to lead three Oles with double-digit kills. Caille registered a .522 attack percentage while tallying 12 kills and Rogers added 10 kills of her own. Christophersen had 22 assists, seven digs, and two aces, while Fildew handed out 16 assists to go with seven digs.
After matching her season-high dig total against Wartburg, Ryan established a new season high with 19 digs, while fifth-year
Selena Rodriguez had 16 digs, six assists, and two aces. The Oles registered eight aces with just four service errors in the win.
The Oles overcame a slow start in the opening set, falling in a 9-4 hole early before winning 21 of the final 26 points of the set for a 25-14 set win. Facing the early five-point deficit, St. Olaf won the next six points to take the lead as part of a 10-1 run. The Oles claimed 10 of the final 12 points of the set while holding the Beavers to a .048 clip.
St. Olaf started quickly in the second set, using an 8-0 run to open up a 9-2 lead in the early stages. Buena Vista was not able to get closer than five points the rest of the way, as the Oles outhit the Beavers by a .314-.133 margin in the middle set.
The third set was a similar story, as St. Olaf got four early kills from Moore to race out to an 8-1 lead and never looked back. The Oles led by at least five and by as many as the final margin of 25-12 in the set to complete the sweep. St. Olaf had just two attack errors and recorded 19 kills to hit .436 in the third.
