Addison Metcalf and sophomore
Ryan Warren combined for 27 points off the bench to spark the St. Olaf College men's basketball team to an 88-77 road win over Augsburg University on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.
Metcalf scored all of his career-high 15 points in the first half and Warren was in double figures for the first time in his career with 12 points for St. Olaf (4-5, 3-3 MIAC), which downed Augsburg (3-6, 1-5 MIAC) for its fourth-straight road win in the series. The win was the Oles' third in their last four Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) games after an 0-2 start to conference play.

Connor Martin scored a game-high 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting to lead four Oles in double figures in the win. Metcalf was 3-for-6 behind the arc to score 15 points in 17 minutes for his fourth double-figure scoring performance in the last six games, while Warren hit all five of his field goals to score 12 points in 17 minutes. Brendan Kauls added 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists on an afternoon where St. Olaf shot 58.2 percent (32-for-55) as a team.
Trent Gomez led four Auggies in double figures with 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting, including going 4-for-5 from three-point range. Elias Batala came off the bench to score 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting, while Isaac Rabaey was 6-for-6 from the field to add 14 points and a team-high six rebounds. Colin Meade contributed 12 points for the Auggies, who shot 53.6 percent (30-for-56) from the field.
Gomez drained a pair of three-pointers in the first three minutes to help Augsburg to an early 8-3 lead, which was the hosts' largest lead of the game. The Auggies were up four at 27-23 with 7:52 in the half before the Oles went on a 17-3 run over a four-minute span that gave St. Olaf a 40-30 lead. Warren started the run with a three-pointer and Metcalf scored the final six points on an "and-one" and a three-pointer.
Another Metcalf three-pointer with 1:43 remaining in the half stretched St. Olaf's lead to 48-33 before Batala capped the half with a three-point play for Augsburg to make it a 48-36 game at the half. Led by Metcalf's 15-point half, the Oles' bench scored 24 points before the break in a half where St. Olaf shot 58.1 percent (18-for-31) from the field.
St. Olaf led by at least 10 points for the entire second half and led by as many as 18 on a fast-break bucket by Martin with 3:52 remaining. Martin scored 13 of his 21 points after the break, going 5-for-6 from the field in the second half.
The Oles have two non-conference road games remaining in 2023, beginning with a trip to UW-River Falls on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.
