Box Score 1 NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College softball team got a combined three-hit shutout from three pitchers in a 2-0 victory in game one over the College of St. Scholastica before game two was declared a no-contest in the regular-season finales for both teams on Monday at Mabel Shirley Field.

Roxanne Ring combined to hold St. Scholastica (17-18, 7-12 MIAC) to three hits to pitch St. Olaf (20-19, 14-7 MIAC) to the game-one victory. The Oles led 3-0 in the top of the third in game two before the game was delayed and eventually deemed a no-contest due to lightning in the area. St. Olaf played as the visiting team in both games after the games were relocated to Northfield due to weather.
With the victory in game one, St. Olaf clinched the No. 3 seed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs. The Oles will host No. 6 seed Saint Mary's University on the first day of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.
The other matchup on Thursday will see No. 4 seed Gustavus Adolphus College host No. 5 seed St. Catherine University. The winners of the two opening-round matchups will advance to take on No. 1 seed Bethel University or the No. 2 seed College of Saint Benedict on Saturday, May 13 in Arden Hills.

Peschel, Orth, and Ring combined to out-duel St. Scholastica starter Haley Rosenthal, as the Saints managed just one hit before the seventh inning. St. Olaf plated single runs in the fourth and fifth for the lone scoring of the game.
Peschel improved to 8-7 on the season by not allowing a hit over the first four innings while walking four and striking out two. Orth tossed scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth before Ring pitched around back-to-back two-out hits to earn her third save of the season.

Maya Patty had a hit and drew a pair of walks, while sophomore
Medora Rylee had a double, a walk, and a run scored.
The Oles got at least one runner on base in each of the first three innings but had to wait until the fourth to get on the board. After the first two batters of the inning were retired, senior
Andrea Conway drew a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on Weisheit's double down the right-field line.

Hannah Peschel gave St. Olaf an insurance run with a two-out RBI single in the next half inning. The single drove in Rylee, who drew a one-out walk and got to second on a single up the middle by Patty.
The Saints loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the sixth on their first hit of the game and a pair of two-out walks, but Orth got a fly out to right to get out of the inning. St. Scholastica generated a two-out threat in the seventh with back-to-back two-out singles, but Ring got a comebacker to the circle for the final out.
Rosenthal took the loss despite limiting St. Olaf to two runs on seven hits with five walks and two strikeouts over the seven-inning complete game.
