RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The St. Olaf College volleyball team cruised to a 25-8, 25-23, 25-14 sweep of Martin Luther College to open the Falcon Invite on Friday evening at Don Page Arena.
St. Olaf (3-1), which received votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 poll, hit a season-best .344 on its way to its 12th-straight win in the series with Martin Luther (2-4). The .344 attack percentage was the highest for the Oles since hitting .349 in a five-set loss at the University of Dubuque on Sept. 17, 2021. St. Olaf has lost just four sets over the 12 consecutive victories over the Knights.

Erica Collin had a team-high 10 kills on 17 swings for St. Olaf, while senior

Lilah Van Scoyoc added seven kills apiece. Van Scoyoc did not commit an error on 13 swings to hit .538. First year

Paige Christophersen combined for 32 assists in orchestrating the offense. Fifth-year senior
Selena Rodriguez registered a match-high 15 digs to go with five assists.
Rogers recorded five kills on six errorless swings as St. Olaf hit .483 with just one attack error on its way to a 25-8 set win in the opener. Already leading 10-4, the Oles won six-straight points as part of a 9-1 run to blow the set wide open at 19-5. Martin Luther had just four kills and hit -.040 in the first set.
The second set was a much tighter affair that included 15 ties, but St. Olaf broke the 15th tie of the set with a kill by Caille and an attack error by the Knights to take the set, 25-23. Neither team led by more than three points in the set, as the Oles' 13-10 lead was the largest for either team. Collin had a set-high five kills, while Van Scoyoc added four.
After cooling off to a .205 attack percentage in the second set, St. Olaf heated back up to a .417 clip in the third to finish off the sweep. The Oles broke an early 5-5 tie with a 9-2 run before turning a 16-13 lead into a 23-13 cushion with a 7-0 spurt.
St. Olaf takes on Simpson College (3 p.m.) and host UW-River Falls (7 p.m.) on day two of the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 9.
