NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's tennis team picked up a 7-2 victory over Concordia-Moorhead in its first dual match of the season on Saturday afternoon at Carlson Courts.
St. Olaf (1-0, 1-0 MIAC) claimed two of the three doubles matches and five of the six doubles matches to defeat Concordia (0-2, 0-2 MIAC) for the 17th consecutive time dating back to 2004. The match, which fell on Homecoming and Family Weekend, was the lone dual match of the fall for the Oles. Junior

Lou Smith were victorious in both singles and doubles for St. Olaf, teaming for a win at No. 1 doubles and registering wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
The Oles nearly started the match with a doubles sweep, but the Cobbers won a tiebreak at No. 3 doubles to go into singles down just 2-1. Vizoli and Smith rolled to an 8-1 win atop the lineup for St. Olaf, while sophomore

Daniel Meunier paired for an 8-5 victory at the No. 2 spot.
Four of St. Olaf's five singles wins came in straight sets, with Smith winning the lone super tiebreak of the match at No. 3 singles. After dropping a tight first set, the first year rallied for a 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 victory in the first dual match of his collegiate career. Vizoli, sophomore

Madden Vanderwerf all posted straight-set victories in their singles matches, with all four dropping six games or fewer in the process.
The next scheduled match for the Oles is a meeting with the College of St. Scholastica on Sunday, March 2 at West Hills Tennis and Fitness Center in Owatonna.
