MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Fifth-year senior tight end
Derek Hansen and junior defensive end
Noah Barrett of the St. Olaf College football team landed spots on the D3football.com All-Region 6 teams, as the 20th edition of the D3football.com all-region lists were announced on Wednesday.
Hansen and Barrett both collected the first all-region accolades of their careers, as Hansen was picked to the first team and Barrett was voted to the second team. Wednesday's announcement marked the fourth season in a row that St. Olaf had at least one D3football.com All-Region honoree and brought the program's total to 15 all-region accolades from 13 student-athletes all-time.
This fall, Hansen posted 50 receptions for 731 yards and eight touchdowns en route to his third consecutive All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) honor. Those numbers all were the most by any tight end in the region during the regular season. Hansen caught at least three passes in every game, including five games with at least six receptions, had two 100-yard games, and caught at least one touchdown in five of St. Olaf's 10 games, including a two-touchdown game and a three-touchdown game.
Barrett put together a breakout junior season defensively for St. Olaf, racking up 53 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, four quarterback hurries, and two pass breakups. During the regular season, the junior tied for the MIAC lead in fumble recoveries, was second in tackles for loss, and ranked tied for fourth in sacks. Barrett recorded at least half a sack in eight of the Oles' 10 games and had seven games with at least one sack.
The teams, selected in balloting by Region 6 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 194 nominations by full Division III member schools. All student-athletes who were nominated for all-region honors are eligible for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.
