Men's soccer recognized at reception at Governor's Residence

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's soccer team continued to celebrate its first NCAA Division III national championship by attending a reception at the Minnesota Governor's Residence at Eastcliff on Wednesday evening.

Members of St. Olaf's team, coaching staff, support staff, and President Susan Rundell Singer were invited to Eastcliff by Governor Tim Walz and First Lady Gwen Walz in recognition of the team's accomplishments this past fall. At the event, the team interacted with Governor Walz and First Lady Walz, enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and a full dinner, and presented the Governor and First Lady with a national championship scarf.

At the end of the evening, Governor Walz issued an official proclamation declaring Wednesday, April 17, 2024 to be "St. Olaf Men's Soccer Team Day." This past December, St. Olaf became the first collegiate men's soccer program in the state of Minnesota to win a national title with a 2-1 overtime win over Amherst College in Salem, Va., which marked the second NCAA team title in school history.
