KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The St. Olaf College men's soccer team secured its highest regular-season ranking since 1999 by moving up to No. 5 in this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Top 25, as announced on Tuesday.
St. Olaf (11-1-2, 6-0-0 MIAC) rose three spots to No. 5 in the national poll after defeating Bethel University, 4-1, in its lone game last week to extend its unbeaten streak in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) regular-season matches to 28 (23-0-5). The move up the rankings for the Oles came during a week where the entire top 10 – and 24 of the top 25 – were ranked in a different spot than last week.
The No. 5 ranking is the highest for St. Olaf in a United Soccer Coaches regular-season poll since a run of four consecutive weeks at No. 3 in 1999 and the 20th top-10 ranking overall in the poll's archives (since 1996).
The Oles will be on the road twice this week, starting with a trip to Saint Mary's University for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
